Why barefoot? Because comfort can look completely different than you think

Why barefoot? Because comfort can look completely different than you think

There are moments when you want to be with people. And then there are moments when you need to be completely alone. Somewhere quiet. In the forest or in an old café tucked away in a side street. Wherever you retreat, your feet go with you. And maybe they deserve a little more space than they usually get.

Your foot is not just something that wears shoes – it’s a sensory organ

Truly. Feet are not just a practical tool to carry you from the tram to the office. They are connected to your whole body and constantly receive subtle signals – about where you are, the surface beneath you, and what’s happening around you.

In regular shoes, we can hardly hear ourselves – they are stiff, narrow, with thick soles that muffle everything your foot could feel. Barefoot shoes give your feet a voice again, thanks to:

  • A wide toe box that is exceptionally comfortable – your toes have room to move
  • A flat, flexible sole that allows you to feel and keeps your posture aligned
  • Light weight that doesn’t weigh you down

Your feet gain space, lightness, and contact with the ground. You’ll feel it soon – you’ll stand taller, move more freely, feel more stable, and most of all, more comfortable. From the feet up.

There’s more to every step

Exploring through our feet is a quiet way to connect – with yourself, your surroundings, and what’s happening right now. It’s about mindfulness, where you suddenly feel what’s beneath you, how your body aligns, and your breath slows down.

And there’s playfulness in mindful walking – a new texture underfoot, a different rhythm, a new path through the park. Aylla doesn’t push you anywhere. It simply gives you space – and it’s up to you what you discover in it.

A healthy foot isn’t an exception – it’s the natural state

None of us were born with flat feet or knee pain. That comes over time – when we take away the foot’s natural movement, trap it in narrow space, elevate it with heels, or restrict it with a rigid sole.

And yet a naturally active foot in barefoot shoes (or simply barefoot) can:

  • Help the entire body move correctly
  • Support breathing, pelvic floor, and spine alignment
  • Aid blood circulation back to the heart
  • Relieve stress on the back, knees, and hips

How much difference can a few centimeters make?

Heels look elegant. But the body perceives them differently. They overload the front of the foot, shorten the muscles in the back of the legs, and shift your center of gravity. Often this leads to overarched lower back and pain.

We’re not just talking about stilettos – a few extra centimeters in men’s shoes can cause issues too. So if you want to give your body relief, restore its balance – it’s time to come back down to earth. Literally. Into shoes with a flat sole (also called zero drop), which realigns not only the foot, but the whole body.

In winter? Why not

Feet that have space in winter barefoot shoes have better circulation. Active toes warm themselves through movement. And with proper winter insoles? You can walk across a frozen path or a snow-covered forest in warmth, without rushing indoors for a cup of tea.

Shoes that respect your body and your style

Barefoot shoes aren’t just for nature walks. They belong in the city, at the office, with trousers, dresses, or even suits. Places where you can feel like yourself and still look polished and respectful of your surroundings.

Aylla offers a clean minimalist design and color options to match your mood, day, or journey. There’s no need to adapt. Just choose what resonates with you.

Start slowly and in your own way

Beginnings don’t have to be big. Just put on your first barefoot shoes and head where you feel good. To the park, your favorite café around the corner, or the familiar route to work.

You may be surprised how much a few extra centimeters of space can change. How your body realigns, breath deepens, toes awaken, and your mind sharpens. There’s no need to rush. Just start paying attention. Aylla doesn’t push. It simply gives space – to your feet, your body, and yourself – so you can be more of who you are. Step by step.

A child’s foot develops only once – you decide if it’s the right way

Children’s shoes should be companions – not restrictive cages. Regular narrow children’s shoes with stiff soles block natural foot movement and weaken muscles. That leads to deformities, misaligned heels, and poor posture. And habits learned early are hard to unlearn…

Then there are barefoot shoes for kids:

  • They give toes space
  • Support healthy foot development – and the whole body
  • Strengthen natural stability

In barefoot shoes, little adventurers can explore freely – barefoot yet protected – with the confidence and solid foundation no other shoe can offer. We simply believe that when kids are free to run, the world becomes a better place.

And finally? Just one thing

Aylla barefoot shoes are made for life – for city or countryside. For work, the theatre, or a holiday. Because your feet deserve freedom. And you deserve comfort that doesn’t get in the way – it supports you.

No one’s going to force Aylla barefoot shoes on you. But if you’re looking for shoes that don’t squeeze your toes – or your soul – maybe you’ve just found the right ones.

Because Aylla doesn’t follow trends. It creates space.

We asked barefoot footwear experts

“Barefoot shoes, to me, are footwear that allows the foot to function properly. If we leave aside fashion shoes, which often completely ignore human physiology, I also notice that shoe design often aims to "help" the foot or replace one of its functions. But unused functions weaken, which can have negative consequences for the entire body. Today’s technological possibilities are amazing – so let’s use them in ways that truly benefit us.”

Mgr. Helena Kmínková, physiotherapist

“I wear barefoot shoes myself and recommend them to my clients — especially for improving sensory perception, stability, and thermal comfort in the foot area. Naturally, always in combination with active exercise. For barefoot shoes, particularly after injuries or during childhood, I make custom insoles that provide support where it's needed while still giving the foot enough freedom to move. Because one thing remains true: shoes should adapt to the foot, not the other way around.”

Mgr. et Mgr. Dana Chvojková, physiotherapist

„Barefoot shoes give the foot space and allow it to function properly. Through the minimal sole, the foot can feel surface irregularities and respond to them, while still being protected from injury. But be careful — the shoe won’t do the work for you. All cushioning must be done by the foot itself. Barefoot shoes are ideal for movement in nature and on uneven terrain. However, an untrained foot will benefit from a bit of support, so if you're new to barefoot shoes, it's important to train your feet gradually.”
