Southern Leather Gem
Once again, we reach for fragrant Italian leather. If any shoe deserves the best, it’s this barefoot outdoor model! Most importantly: it’s waterproof. From experience, we know what Southern leather pairs best with a textile membrane. It lets moisture escape while keeping water out. So go ahead, step into a stream or a deep puddle. Hike through damp grass. With MITU barefoot trekking boots, you can – and you’ll be left with nothing but adventure-filled memories and dry socks.
Glued and Stitched – Just in Case
We won’t deny the power of duct tape or super glue, but we trust in the good old stitching awl. That’s why, for extra security, we both glue and stitch our shoes. We use a special thread that doesn’t loosen when stitched but instead sinks neatly into the puncture, filling and reinforcing the entire bond so it won’t come apart after just a few steps. One small but crucial detail: it doesn’t compromise the membrane, keeping the shoe waterproof and as durable as new.
Protective Rubber Toe and Rand
The toe area and the transition between the sole and upper endure the most wear in any hiking boot. To protect all trail warriors, we reinforce these areas with a protective rubber rand, so neither your boots nor your toes suffer at the first fallen log. Plus, it adds another bonus – increased water resistance.
Grip Power
Choosing the right sole is an art. We need to strike a balance between a tough, grippy sole that also remains flexible. Losing ground contact isn’t an option. The result? A sight to behold. We use a thicker self-cleaning tread that provides excellent grip, ensuring you won’t slip on any wet rock as you climb to breathtaking views.
Smart Features
Gusseted tongue lined with a membrane. See? No creases, no shifting to the side, no rolling inside the shoe. You won’t be able to stash your snack in it, but at least it stays in place.
Loops. Loops are becoming a hot topic. Let’s start at the front: there’s a double-loop with a self-locking mechanism that prevents your laces from loosening. At the back, we double-stitch a loop for easy slip-on.
We tilt the shoe. And we have three very good reasons for it:
- Easier to put on and take off – because we like to keep things simple.
- Your foot naturally shifts forward, positioning your toes for an active push-off.
- More comfortable downhill walking – your foot won’t slide painfully into the toe box.
At what point did you fall in love with MITU? And just wait until you put them on!
We love exploring too. Before we perfected our own outdoor barefoot footwear, we all faced the same problem on long hikes: our legs wanted to keep going, but our feet just couldn’t take it in regular boots. MITU won’t be the first thing you can’t wait to take off after a hike, because MITU doesn’t hurt. They are lightweight, flexible, and comfortable. No restrictive squeezing, just pure natural movement that feels best in the great outdoors. Movement… and of course, the views. 🤍
